Beginning on your 50th birthday, you qualify for discounts, perks, priv9ileges, and special programs. Discounts offered are for ages 50 – 55 – 62 – 65 and above. Boomers are one of the largest and wealthiest demographic groups in the US and are enormous market. How do you get these discounts and perks? You ask! Discounts at restaurants, hotels, airlines, grocery stores, travel and vacations, educations, transportation, the list is endless. Most still refer to senior discounts, but that is OK when you are saving money.

AARP Travel Center – Get discounts on travel, insurance, lodging & more.  Rental cars, AARP members get online discounts of 20% to 30%. Visit the web site for AARP travel discounts on cruises, travel, and vacations. Check out their restaurant Discount Center and the Grocery Coupon Center.

AAA – Discounts on shopping, restaurants, automotive, travel and more. For local dining discounts see web site. Home, health and services discounts too.  Best to check web site for to see where discounts apply.   You may be surprised to see how many of your everyday purchases qualify for a AAA discount.

Good to get a membership it at least one of above AARP or AAA. You may not need both, at least for discounts.

Parks

National Parks Golden Age Passport (for citizens or permanent residents of the United States who are age 62 or older) The Golden Age Passport is a lifetime entrance pass to national parks, monuments, historic sites, recreation areas, and national wildlife refuges that charge an entrance fee.  State parks also have senior discounts.

Groceries

(Kroger and Publix) stores did give a 5% discount on Wednesday, but I believe they are stopping this discount. Just ask where you shop and see what they offer.
